Director of Nursing

Responsibilities:

Manage the entire nursing department and staffing levels.

Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures.

Ensure resident safety and respectful treatment.

Conduct in-services for clinical staff.

Recruit, hire, and train nursing staff.

Coordinate pharmacy services and medication disposal.

Act as liaison between facility, physicians, and family members.

Participate in QA, Utilization Review, and Patient Care conferences.

Assist with state surveys and follow-up activities.

Coordinate MDS and care planning.

Conduct employee appraisals and handle disciplinary actions.

Provide direct/hands-on resident/patient care as needed.

Supervise and manage ADON and nursing staff.

Qualifications:

Clinical experience: Minimum of 2 years in nurse management.

Mentorship: Willingness to mentor and demonstrate clinical tasks.

Budgeting and administrative tasks: Familiar with budgeting, staff management, and administrative tasks.

Team player: Ability to work closely with other departments.

BSN preferred, in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to interpret and apply regulations.

Physical ability to lift/move up to 75 pounds and use office equipment.
