Nurse Manager, Emergency Department

Job Summary: The Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and managing the nursing staff. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and support staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient department operations.
  • Collaborate with other department managers and hospital leadership to achieve organizational goals.
  • Clinical Oversight:
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care in accordance with established standards and protocols.
  • Monitor patient flow and manage staffing levels to meet patient needs.
  • Address and resolve patient and family concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Participate in clinical rounds and provide guidance on complex cases.
  • Quality Improvement:
  • Lead initiatives to improve patient outcomes and department performance.
  • Analyze data and metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement evidence-based practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate staff education and training programs.
  • Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the department budget.
  • Monitor expenditures and optimize resource utilization.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Current RN license in [State].
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience in an emergency department setting.
  • Previous leadership or management experience preferred.
